地面爱好者的极限------NGC7293 by SSRO天文台



      我以前很少用诸如“媲美哈勃”等词语去评价天文摄影爱好者们的佳作,因为相对于那些大口径的科研级仪器,一般爱好者手里的器材是无法望其项背的,将二者相题并论毫无意义。
      但当我看到这张 Star Shadows Remote Observatory 在智利拍摄的宝瓶座螺旋星云的时,还是被那难以置信的清晰度折服了,它有力地的证明了在有经验的爱好者极优秀的环境下用高级器材也有可能接近地面大型天文台的效果。

Description
The famous Helix Nebula in Aquarius -- at only 7000 lightyears distance, this 2.5 lightyear diameter planetary nebula fills our 14x21' FOV.Processing was by 3 different methods. The first, shown here, used a luminance layer consisting of the Ha and OIII data, superimposed on an RGB layer in which Ha was added to the Red, and OIII was added to both the Green and Blue channels. RGB star data was then overlayed. This method portrays the Helix as we are used to seeing it -- dominated by the Ha emission.However, the second version of the Helix emphasizes the OIII emission, and can be found here.The third version is a modified bicolor image, using only the Ha nd OIII data, and can be found here.

Description

This version of the Helix was accomplished by using the Ha and OIII data only, a la Steve Cannistra's modified bicolor technique, wherein the green channel is synthesized from the Red (Ha) and Blue (OIII) channels. Some of the brighter stars were overlayed with RGB data.

虽然与哈勃、VLT等比较是没意义的,但我由衷的说:
真是太强大了,堪称神作。当然,智利的天空视宁度极佳帮了大忙(拍摄地就是著名的CTIO天文台)。
