猫眼状星云（0010）
The Cat's Eye Nebula猫眼状星云 Three thousand light years away, a dying star throws off shells of glowing gas. This Hubble Space Telescope image reveals "The Cat's Eye Nebula" to be one of the most complex "planetary nebulae" known. In fact, the features seen in this image are so complex that astronomers suspect the visible central star may actually be a double star system. The term planetary nebula, used to describe this general class of objects, is misleading. Although these objects may appear round and planet-like in small telescopes, high resolution images reveal them to be stars surrounded by cocoons of gas blown off in the late stages of evolution. 3000光年之外，一颗消亡的恒星甩去外层发光的气体。哈勃望远镜拍到的这张“猫眼状星云”是当前所知最复杂的“行星星云”之一。事实上，图片中的特征极其复杂，天文学家猜测中心可见的恒星实际上可能是一个双星系统，用行星星云来描述这类天体是个误导。尽管这类天体呈球状，用小望远镜观察也很像行星，而高分辨率的图像则显示，它们是多颗被爆炸气团包围着的处在演变未期的恒星。 很漂亮，不过我更喜欢爱斯基摩星云和马头星云！ planetary nebulae行星状星云The Cat's Eye Nebula猫眼星云 planetary nebulae行星状星云
