the only tricky thing about DSLR planetary imaging is color balance.
I find that the blue channel comes through weak, and the red from a modified camera comes out a little strong.

T1i live view x5 (which apparently gives 100% crop)
and 2" barlow in 8" Newtonian.
Stack of ~400 images.

canon 500d with the eos camera movie record
5x zoom to image jupiter with my TAL 250K.
The file was converted in avi(mjpeg compressor in prism video file conv.).
The 1250 frames were combined in registax 5.

Canon's new "Movie Crop Mode" on the 550D
2 minute movie (MOV) file with the 550D @ 60 fps
getting 7400 frames. In Registax 5 I stacked at 95 percent quality
getting 469 frames stacked for the image below.

20" dob at 2300mm focal length

2X barlow when using the 550D and it nearly filled up the 640 X 480 FOV
