Composite image with three EIT wavelengths (171?as blue, 195?as yellow and 284?as red) combined to show solar features unique to each wavelength. The 171?filter shows emission from 8 and 9 times ionized iron at about 1 million degrees C, the 195?filter shows 11 times ionized iron at about 1.5 million degrees C, and the 284?filter shows 13 times ionized iron at about 2.5 million degrees.

A closeup of an erupting prominence with Earth inset at the approximate scale of the image. Taken on July 1, 2002 in 304?emission.The 304?filter shows emission from singly ionized helium at about 60000 degrees C.

This magnificent erupting prominence was captured by EIT in 304?emission on September 14, 1999.The 304?filter shows emission from singly ionized helium at about 60000 degrees C.

This EIT 171?image shows emission from 8 and 9 times ionised iron at about 1 million degrees C, revealing diffuse corona and magnetic loops on July 1, 1999.5
The "Bastille Day" flare as seen by EIT in the 195?emission line on July 14, 2000.The 195?filter shows emission from 11 times ionized iron at about 1.5 million degrees C.

This fiery Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) shows stunning details in the ejected material. Taken by LASCO C2 on January 4, 2002.In coronagraph images, direct sunlight is blocked by an occulter, revealing the surrounding faint corona. The approximate size of the Sun is represented by the white circle.

This EIT 171?image shows a wide variety of loops and active regions (lighter areas on the surface). Taken on November 9, 1998.The 171?filter shows emission from 8 and 9 times ionized iron at about 1 million degrees C.

Two large eruptive prominences captured by EIT in 304?emission on March 18, 2003.The 304?filter shows emission from singly ionized helium at about 60000 degrees C.

This unusual and clearly helical Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) was observed by the LASCO C2 coronagraph on June 2, 1998.In coronagraph images, direct sunlight is blocked by an occulter, revealing the surrounding faint corona. The approximate size of the Sun is represented by the white circle.

This "lightbulb" Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) shows the three classical parts of a CME: leading edge, void, and core. Taken on February 27, 2000 by the LASCO C3 coronagraph. In coronagraph images, direct sunlight is blocked by an occulter, revealing the surrounding faint corona. The approximate size of the Sun is represented by the white circle.
