NPP's 'Blue Marble'January 25, 2012
A 'Blue Marble' image of the Earth taken from the VIIRS instrument aboard NASA's most recently launched Earth-observing satellite - Suomi NPP. This composite image uses a number of swaths of the Earth's surface taken on January 4, 2012.
The Visible/Infrared Imager Radiometer Suite or VIIRS is the primary imaging instrument onboard NPP, and it acquires data in 22 spectral bands covering visible, near-infrared, and thermal infrared regions of the electromagnetic spectrum.
NPP orbits the earth at 512 miles above the surface. The image is composited from 4 orbits. A map projection algorithm is used to put the VIIRS data in the image. The map projection transformation provides the global look of the image.

搭乘美国宇航局最近发射的地球观测卫星VIIRS文书所采取的地球 - 芬兰语NPP的一个“蓝色大理石”的形象。这种合成图像使用2012年1月4日，地球表面的大片。
可见光/红外成像辐射仪套件或VIIRS是板载NPP的​​主要成像仪，并获得22个光谱波段的数据，涵盖可见光，近红外，热红外电磁频谱地区。
NPP的轨道在地球表面512英里以上。 4轨道合成图像。地图投影算法是用来放VIIRS图像中的数据。地图投影变换提供了全球的形象期待。
