著名地质景点、自然奇观的白岩坍塌，分秒之间的沧海桑田

       据英国《每日邮报》3月14日报道，英国东部港市多佛市的著名地质景点-多佛白岩近日因极端天气发生大面积坍塌，导致重约数千吨、面积相当于一个足球场的巨块石灰石掉进大海中，堆成一座小山。专家认为，坍塌是因为雨水流入干旱期裂开的石缝，在近期的严寒天气中结冰膨胀，导致这块巨石逐渐松动，最终与悬崖脱离。地质演变需要历经几万年直至上亿年，能够有幸看到著名地质公园瞬间的变迁，极其壮阔的跃动，让然留下深刻印象。

       位于英国英格兰，作为英格兰的象征，人们很难登上多佛白崖的最高点。这个约100万年前形成的悬崖由细粒石灰石组成。悬崖的最高点在海滩之顶(Beachy Head)，那里的白垩层经过数百万年的沉积从下面的海滩中上升了500英尺(约152米)高。
　　多佛白崖位于北纬51°06'N，东经1°14'E，北纬51°12'N，东经1°24'E。白崖标志着英国接近欧洲大陆的最密切的多佛位置一点。在晴朗的日子，都是悬崖峭壁很容易地从法国海岸可见。
　　峭壁主要是白色白垩石组成，其他主要是钙板，板形成碳酸钙颗石藻，单细胞浮游 藻类的遗骸沉没到海洋的底部产生的，并连同仍然底部众生，形成沉积物。燧石和石英中还发现白垩石。多佛崖面继续以每年1厘米的平均增长，虽然偶尔大块将下降。这发生在2001年，当大块的边缘，如一个足球场大，进入下跌通道。进一步大段倒塌到2012年3月15日英语频道。游客，因此，呼吁继续从悬崖边走。
