poor-man astrophotography setup!
Hi everybody...I would like to introduce my poor-man portable astrophotography setup. This setup can be use for most of the events. For an example....Solar eclipse, lunar eclipse, constellation/wide field shooting....and so on. :) Please give me more opinions or comments for improvement...
Clear skies,

http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/1639/image240wv2.jpg you need a bigger than that mount, and a bigger telescope
i think the ccd can be better than flim camera! ^^ but i think that astrophotography is so good ,you can try take some photos on here.finally we can give you some advice with that astrophotography! ^^ Oh,man. For me ,you have too much device, but you say you have"poor man"portable astrophotography setup. Are you kidding everybody? Although photo lenses can do many jobs, you need a telescope+toucam to shoot planets.
And a large aperture telescope like 6" or 8" can catch dark objects. 楼主是上回手拿25公斤配重的老兄么? 楼主是上回手拿25公斤配重的老兄么? I re-use all my accessories. No money to go for digital!!! :) So, stick to Film astrophotography. I have the patient to wait for the result. I like film SLR because it doesn't need battery. I do not like to look for power in the middle of the astrophotography session.
Eyeball guiding is a challenge and can learn more things.......
I am trying to modify it to be more portable.....
Regards,
Tommy When i want to said, I find my english is so poor.
May be i can said :UP
And what is the price of that equal mount ? Haahha...
U can write in chinese...I am Malaysian-chinese. So, I can read, but write in slow motion. :)
Thanks
Tommy Useing a camera to keep balence,it's my 1st time to see!
Good thinking! This is one of the more portable usage. I do not wish to bring more stuffs for one expedition.
Now i will think how to use other things to become counterweight. :)
Tommy I also use Pentax SLR ^^ Pentax is good yeah!!! I like Pentax very much. Will be thinking to get a Pentax K10D if got money. :)
Tommy For my first time to see such a 'Poor man',you did your 'job' right! It doesn't matter for a SLR to astro-photography and sometimes SLD can gain a better view than DSLR, for example,SLR doesn't need batteries and to worry about the hot pixels for long time exposure, photos need creativity, imagination, hard working and so on,it doesn't depend what you pay for,i am glad to meet the guy tonight,i hope we can communicate often, and why not post your photos?
Regards,
gary Thanks Gary.
My photos are still in the camera. As I mentioned before, I cannot view the result instantly. So, i have to train myself to be more patient. So, have to wait.. :)
Nice to meet you guys too...
Regards,
Tommy The one who's on 2nd floor's English is poor... :)
English poor is not that important. As long as we can communicate. That's all!
Clear skies,
Tommy Hi,
Now got more modification coming along...Hope you guys can give me more advice. Especially on the idea of double scope setup.
1. This is my counterweight system by using 2x dumbell..1.5kg and 1.25kg. So now my mount carrying case became more lighter. :)

2. I found this piece of Aluminum plate from my toolbox. So, will decide how to fully utilize it. Do you think if I mount this way it will work?

3. This is my planning on mounting my guidescope side by side with my main scope. So, I will have a little space to do the adjustment on my guidescope. :) Normally I will use this setup when my main scope use for prime focus astrophotography. Do you think it works????? Just a rough idea from my mind......
