This is my original FC-76 model, I bought the first one that ever came into the country; got it in person from Les and Art . Think it was around 1984. Everyone knows this one is the scope that made Takahashi it's name. It is an unbelievable performer, taking high magnification with the vari-extender. Can you imagine that Takahashi probably selected the best for their initial export to The US? From it's performance my guess is that it's most likely 1/12 wave. I've never all these years ever regretted selling my C-8 and getting this one.
Has the main tube with two extension tubes, the 1-1/4” setscew ring back and the original box (though I will double box it for shipping.
Comes with the bigger Takahashi 7x50 Finder and Bracket. That''s a $400 value. A far prettier view than the smaller 5x30 one. I put it on when scope was new and it's never been taken off.
Comes with the original clamshell for the tube. At least a $185 value.
It comes with a Takahashi 1.25 back, substituted for the original .965 one. This makes it more universal for 1.25 eyepiece users.
It's nice to get all original parts, as the colors match. In original Takahashi green and white. Includes every single end cap and front metal dew cap cover has screw out center for stop down or filter use.
As to the condition; It has either been on a mount or in the box. With the exception of two touched up small spots under the clamshell and 3 uched up dots on the finder (1 up and 2 underneath) dots from finder screw marks the scope is pristine and beautiful. The lens is clean and accurately collimated. Includes the original Lifetime warranty document.
Also comes with an Inconel Solar filter that shows the sun in super yellow color; it slides over the dew cap. Easily an $80 value in that size.
Included is a Meade 1.25 star diagonal. I never had a 1.25 inch end cap for the viewing end. Scope is always sealed up when not in use, with the .965 adapter.
I will merely state that I have always owned the best scope there is, and have never tried to find a cheaper equivalent which performs like this one does. Buy the best; your eyes deserve it. As they advertise, the contrast is exceptional.
My last one, an FC-50, went extremely fast.
Some intersting thingd done with the scope; 7mm eyepiece prject actually gave me a nice little image of mars eith pole and brown lines visible. Took pic of Saturn coming out from behind moon, using digital camera through the eyepiece.Did the 7mm shots on the Moon and the pictures were better from the Tak Then they were from ones I took through my previously owned C-8! Always something neat to do with this scope,
This is my most prized possession, and I will miss it. has a lietime of service left in it.
Quality asured and personally checked by me upon purchase. From my personal collection, I will double box it.
