The results so far are approx. 500 telescopes, over 1,100 amateurs, over 25,000 public who observed, 28 countries, and 154 locations. Since we had over 300 posted locations before the event, there are still a lot that haven't given us results.

We would like to stay in contact with all of you. I have a newsletter that needs to be finished and I would love to include your stories/photos about ISAN. Please send those articles and photos ( 1 or 2 - ones that are good in low res black/white) to me at dsmith1055@earthlink.net and PLEASE write "newsletter" in the subject line. Also be sure to include your mailing address. Even if you sent them already, please send them again (my email box was VERY, VERY full in the days following the event).


We also want to encourage all of you to continue with sidewalk observing. Remember that we always like to hear about your events.

A GREAT NINGHT IN BEIJING


1）Name of club.
“StarRovers” astronomical club of Beihang University, Beijing ,China.


2）Weather condition.
It’s clear on May 19. But the light pollution is quite serious in the downtown.


3) Time.
18:30-------22;00 beijing time.


4)Location.
We have 4 teams doing this in different places at the same time:
(1) the square in front of the library in our University
(2) the square in front of the Dining-hall in our University.
(3)”shi cha hai” the center point of bars in Beijing city.
(4) the square of”xidan” which is a boomy sown town in Beijing.


5)Telescopes.

We took 9 telescopes out that night;
Refractors: 152x1200, 102x1000, 80x600 ，90x700
Reflectors: 150x750, 114x900, 203x800
Binoculars: 20x80, 20x88

6)Public.
The number of people involved in this event is estimated over 2,000 that night. Over 30
amateurs in our club participated.

7) Organization.
We have 4 teams. There were at least 2 telescopes and 8 amateurs in each team. They in charge of the event, such as operating the telescopes ,doing some explanations, and taking photos.


8).Reactions of the public .
People were extremely zealous. they asked so much questions, also they feel happy about this event.
We have made 91 questionnaires. In which 75.8% of people had their first observation through our telescopes. All of them think it’s so cool to have the chance to watch the sky, they hope we can organize similar observations more frequently.


9) Remarks.

10) Our suggestions.
(1)Making more BUTTONS next year!
(2)Making use of Projection instrument, it can make our ISAN more attractive! We did so ,
definitely a success!
