提要：我国春秋战国时代的军队一师辖五旅，与木五星队列构造相同；军队的宿营地称为“次”，与木星在天上的十二个宿营地名称相同。我国周代天子与四方诸侯每隔12年会盟一次，会盟时所用牺牲为牛，与盟者面向北方牵牛星（或牛郎星）宣誓，盟毕用朱盘玉敦盛牛耳，此时敲响军鼓，以象征盟军从牵牛宿出发。这种会盟制度暗示了一种关于四木卫的知识。汉代文献说帝舜的重瞳象征日月，当重瞳和木星交光的时候，它们所组成的亮点系统很像日月五星系统，这说明，那时的人们已经知道了四木卫的存在。分析木星的别名“经星”问题，可以得知古人已经了解到木星是一个微型的星系。
A troop usually included five battle groups during Spring and Autumn Periods and Warring States in our country, this was similar to the Jupiter and its four main satellites system; A camp site was called a ‘Ci’ during Spring and Autumn Periods and Warring States, and a touring zone for the Jupiter in each year was also called a ‘Ci’. This allying practice implied a kind of knowledge about the four main satellites of Jupiter. Historical documents told the stories about Emperor Shun’s eye, they claimed Shun’s eye had double pupils witch was like the sun with the moon behind it, when the sun-moon liked pupils lightened the Jupiter, they formed together a moving lightning body system which was just a copy of Seven Luminaries. These stories tell us that people in Han Dynasty had already known the four main satellites of Jupiter. Another name for Jupiter in ancient Chinese astronomy shows that ancient Chinese people viewed Jupiter as a micro galaxy.
