I used scrap wood left over from the tube milling. I ripped them on the table saw and planed them down to just under 1/4 inch. Then cut them into equal pieces to form the rough shape of the countercell parts.
I glued each layer of the laminate together 2 at a time with weights as clamps. Titebond3 sets up enough in 30 minutes so you can move onto the next layer.
This is the center section that the cell actually butts up against.
In order to align the middle section I places spikes in the first section to mark where to place dowels for alignment and strength.
Cut vent slots in case I want to evacuate the OTA. I am still kicking around a few ideas on how to close these. I think I will make the lens cover and dew shield work in conjunction with these slots.
Set the lens adjustment bolts. I used threaded couples. The cell works well with #12 screws so I tapped out a smaller unit to accept the 12 screw. Where the set screw pushes I set flat head nail for the set screw to push on giving the while assemble a solid push pull.
Close up back side
Ready to accept the whole assembly and glue together.
The unit.
That is the counter cell. The focuser plate is willed from Ebony. Extremely heavy allowing me to scoot the tube center back a few inches.

Each end of the axle is keyed. A tab is welded in place for the leaf spring. We will use this key to keep each axis from twisting. Yes this works quite well. N detectable wiggle in either axis.
I made the first pinch block in 2 sections. These sections will remain in 2 pieces. Here I have built up alternating layers of Oak reversing the grain to form a ply and accommodating the key to as tight of tolerance as I could.
Both halves pinched onto the trimmed off axle hub. I am eyeballing the second axis here.
This assembly fits snuggly down into the base unit. This can attach to a pier or tripod.
The second axis is pinched into the second block set and secured with 4 1/2 inch bolts. You can see the block on top to accept the dovetail.
