6. Convert a ToUcam Pro to a SPC900NC...
...with the use of the SPC900NC firmware, though.
As the SPC900NC and ToUcam Pro 740/750/840 are the same internally, I figured that the SPC900NC firmware could be loaded into one of its predecessors. I tried it myself and it works. The camera formerly known as a 740/750/840 is now recognized as an SPC900NC.
On Etienne Bonduelle's website http://www.astrosurf.com/astrobond/ebrawe.htm you can read more about loading firmware, and the use of the required software WcRmac from Martin Burri. As this modification can be destructive to your camera, use it at your own risk and only if you understand the explanations on the above mentioned website.
If you want to try, the SPC900NC binary file can be downloaded here SPC900NC.bin (right click and save as, into the \8116 directory in the folder where you have WcRmac installed). Again downloading and loading this file into your camera is completely at your own risk. Do not blame me, Etienne Bonduelle, Martin Burri or anyone else but yourself when something goes wrong.
Of course, you now need the SPC900NC driver to operate your 'new' camera, because it has no native driver support by any version of Windows.
The Dutch language driver for the SPC900NC can be downloaded here, English language driver here. Or search on the Philips website in your own language.
When completed, you should have a fully 'SPC900NC' compatible camera on the 740/750/840 basis. |
