Before using most telescopes they must be aligned with the Earth's axis pointing it to the NCP (North Celestal Pole) that is less than 1 degree from the Polaris. The polaris rotates around the NCP once every 24 Sideral Hours. PolarFinder helps you in determining Polaris position and subsequential the position of NCP.

The position of Polaris depends by the latitude and the sideral local time. PolarFinder calculate, just in time, the Sideral Local Medium Time and the position of the Polaris. The time and latitude for calculating Sideral Local Time are read directly from the System and the GPS present in the mobile device.

HEQ5 Alignment
SkyWatcher HEQ5 赤道儀的校正(分四步)


第一步:
Unlock the RA axis and rotate it until the reticule pattern shows the Polaris Location Indicator at the very bottom. Re-lock the RA axis
鬆開赤經(R.A.)軸並旋轉直到(極軸鏡中的)刻度環顯示出在最底部的北極星方位指示符,重新鎖上赤經(R.A.) 軸

Loosen the RA setting circle by loosening the setscrews,
then turn the setting circle so that its indicator is pointing to zero.
Do not rotate the mount in RA, just loosen and move the RA setting circle. When done, tighten the setscrews.
通過鬆開固定螺釘來鬆開赤經(R.A.) 設定環(刻度環)
然後轉動設定環讓它上方的箭頭指標指向零度
切勿在赤經(R.A.)方向旋轉赤道儀,只需鬆開並且移動赤經(R.A.)設定環(刻度環),完成後擰緊固定螺釘

Switch on PolarFinder.
Wait until PolarFinder read the location and set the Polaris position.
In this example the previous peak is past from 1.48 hours.
啟動PolarFinder
等待直到PolarFinder讀取您的位置並且設置北極星的方位

Unlock the RA axis and rotate the mount so the setting circle indicator points 1.48 hours in the botton scale.
We use the botton scale if we consider the previous peak.
If we consider the next peak we use the upper scale that points 22.07.
Now the reticule is in the proper orientation.
Use the altitude and azimuth adjusters to placec Polaris into the small circle in the polar scope reticule.
鎖開赤經(R.A.)軸並且旋轉赤道儀讓設定環(刻度環)(箭頭)指向底部刻度的1.48hours處
如果我們考慮前次的峰值時,我們使用底部的刻度鈕;當我們考慮下一個峰值時,我們使用上方的刻度指向22.07處
此刻(極軸鏡的刻度環)位於正確的方向,使用高度角與方位角調整器把北極星放入極軸鏡刻度環的最內圈

Switch on PolarFinder.
Wait until PolarFinder read the location and set the Polaris position.
In this example the previous peak is past from 17.55 hours.
Align your mount by moving the mount until the position of Polaris from this program, is in the same position on the reticle of your polar finder.
Make sure that the mount is initially adjusted with the bubble level horizontal in order to calibrate your local meridian line. PreviousPeak is your Hour Angle.
啟動PolarFinder
等待直到PolarFinder讀取出您的位置並且設置北極星的方位
在下圖的這個例子中,上一次峰值已經過去了17.55小時
通過移動對準您的赤道儀,直到北極星在您極軸望遠鏡刻度環上的方位與北極星在此程序中的方位相符

After the installing procedure PolarFinder create an icon in the application menu activity.
You can launch PolarFinder by clicking on this icon.
This icon reppresents a miniaturized polarfinder timer.

the sideral timer
恆星時顯示器
PolarFinder is just a sideral timer.
Infact PolarFinder using the gps location calculate the sideral local time.
After calculating sideral local time PolarFinder calculate the Polaris position.
The red reticule pattern describe the polaris position like a polar scope.that has to have the polaris in the polar scope.
The white marker instead shows the real polaris position.
PolarFinder就是一個恆星時顯示器
事實上 PolarFinder 使用GPS位置信息來計算本地恆星時
計算完本地恆星時之後,PolarFinder(據此來)計算北極星的方位
紅色的刻度環圖案有如極軸鏡般描述了北極星所在的方位,就像您通過真實的極軸鏡觀看一樣

In the upper panel you can read information about the previous peak and the next peak.
For the previous peak you can read the time pass from and the hour of the peak.
For the next peak you can read the time remaining and the hour in which the peak will be reached.
All these times are solar times. The number indicates solar hours not sideral hours.
在上方的面板中您可以獲得有關上一個峰值與下一個峰值的信息
在上一個峰值中您可以讀取到通過的時間與峰值的時點信息
在下一個峰值中您可以讀取到剩餘時間與到達高峰的時點信息

In the botton panel you can read other information.
On the left of the panel there you can read the SMLT (Sideral Medium Local Time)  and the position.
If you have not a GPS in your mobile device PolarFinder use the default position.

在面板左側您能獲得SMLT (Sideral Medium Local Time,本地中間恆星時)與其方位信息
若您的移動設備裡沒有GPS模塊,PolarFinder會使用默認方位


On the right of the panel you can read the SMGT (Sideral Medium Greenwich Time) and the altitude of your position.
If is not present a GPS on your mobile device this value is set to zero.
在右邊的面板您能獲得SMGT (Sideral Medium Greenwich Time,格林威治中間恆星時)與您所在方位的海拔高度
若您的移動設備裡面不存在GPS模塊,這個值將設定為零

The PolarFinder menu as five icons that allows you to open the preferences menu,
the credits form, to start and stop the timer and for quit from application.

The preferences activity helps you in setting PolarFinder.
The first check box allows you to enable and disable the use of GPS.
The second check box allows you to enable and disable the timer.
If disable the timer not runs to calculate the position just in time.
The two scrollbars allows you to refresh speed of the timer (default setted to one second) and the polaris position image 8default setted to forty-five second.
首選項能幫助您設定PolarFinder
第一個複選框允許您啟用或禁用GPS功能(通過從GPS信息來計算本地恆星時)
第二個複選框允許您啟用或禁用計時器(如果禁用計時器,軟件將不計算北極星方位隨時間的變化,而僅顯示當前時間所在方位)

The last preference row let you to set the emisphere.
In fact the longitude is a value from 0 to 180.
The hemisphere indicates if the longitude is a West or East longitude.
最後一行的選項讓您設置東半球或西半球
實際上經度是一個介於0~180間的值
hemisphere會要您設置經度是東經還是西經
