以前看的一个英文笑话, 原文附后.
给所有聪明的女人和欣赏她们的男人
在医院里, 得了重病的人的亲戚们围在候诊室里.
终于, 大夫疲惫地走出来, 面有难色.
"恐怕, 我带来了不好的消息" 他扫视着一堆焦急的面孔
"留住你们亲人的唯一的希望是脑移植. 这是个尝试性的手术, 风险很大, 但是这是唯一的希望"
"保险可以承担手术费用, 但你们要担负购脑的钱"
家庭成员们沉默地咀嚼着其中的意思.
过了很长一段时间, 有人问, "那么, 一个大脑花多少钱?"
大夫回到: "男性大脑 $5000, 女性大脑 $200"
气氛忽然尴尬起来, 屋子里的男性都试图禁住笑, 避免和女性的眼神接触, 但有些还是笑出声来.
其中一个男的禁不住好奇, 问出了大家都想问的问题:
"为什么男性大脑要这么多钱?"
大夫对这个稚气的提问报以一笑, 给大家道出了原由:
"这只是个标准的定价程序而已. 我们不得不对女性大脑打折, 因为这些脑是实实在在地被使用过的"
To all you smart women out there and the men who appreciate them.
In the hospital the relatives gathered in the waiting room, where their family member lay gravely ill.
Finally, the doctor came in looking tired and somber.
"I'm afraid I'm the bearer of bad news," he said as he surveyed the worried faces.
"The only hope left for your loved one at this time is a brain transplant.
It's an experimental procedure, very risky but it is the only hope."
"Insurance will cover the procedure, but you will have to pay for the brain yourselves."
The family members sat silent as they absorbed the news.
After a great length of time, someone asked, "Well, how much does a brain cost?"
The doctor quickly responded, "$5,000 for a male brain, and $200 for a female brain."
The moment turned awkward. Men in the room tried not to smile, avoiding eye contact with the women, but some actually smirked.
A man, unable to control his curiosity, blurted out the question everyone wanted to ask, "Why is the male brain so much more?"
The doctor smiled at the childish innocence and explained to the entire group, "It's just standard pricing procedure. We have to mark down the price of the female brains, because they've actually been used." |
