New Discovery!: K. J. Lawrence reports the discovery of a new comet on Sep. 02, 2005, in the course of the NEAT survey. This was confirmed by J. Young (Table Mountain). The preliminary orbit for the 18m comet P/2005 R1 (NEAT) shows the perihelion on Oct. 08, 2005, at about 2.1 AU. The period is about 14.0 years. This is the 51st comet discovery by NEAT.
