The NASA logo hangs on the Vehicle Assembly Building at NASA's Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans. The logo was heavily damaged during Hurricane Katrina, which struck the Gulf Coast in August 2005. Michoud, managed by NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., is responsible for the design, manufacture and assembly of the space shuttle external tank. The facility also has been chosen by NASA to support several major exploration projects, including development efforts for the Orion spacecraft and Ares launch vehicles. (NASA/Michoud)

Crews put the finishing touches on the NASA logo on the Vehicle Assembly Building at NASA's Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans. Heavily damaged during Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the logo was repaired and recently re-hung piece-by-piece on the building. Michoud's primary responsibility is the manufacture and assembly of the space shuttle's external tank. The facility also has been chosen by NASA to support development efforts for the Orion spacecraft and Ares launch vehicles. (NASA/Michoud) |
