The northern Gemini 8-meter telescope on Mauna Kea, Hawaii, is seen here in a long exposure at night. Behind the telescope can be seen the usual star trails due to the rotation of the Earth, as well as the trail of an incoming meteor over the summit. The streaks in front are from the tail lights of vehicles which drove up to the telescope while the camera shutter was open.
