这个SOHO彗星专家（KB）也太让我失望了吧！……

Confirmation confusion...

Dear All,

This has gotten rather messy, for which I apologize. I see Bo has sent some
messages about a few objects. Let me try and clear this up.

I think that some of his concerns are simply that I have not numbered the comets
in the order in which they are discovered. This is not something I am going to
correct. The SOHO-# is just for record keeping and, unless it is something like
SOHO-1000 or SOHO-2000, it's really not a meaningful number. So I can, and often
do, assign SOHO-# out of order if it is most convenient for me to do so. Thus I
don't want to hear any complaints about numbers that are not in sequence.

Bo does correctly point out that I have confused some reports, and in my own
records of the comets, have matched the wrong positions with the wrong report. I
correct these now.

Here is a response to each comet that appears to have been contested:

(1) SOHO-2414:
I do not know why this one is being mentioned. I see no problem here.

(2) SOHO-2424 and SOHO-2425:

This was a mistake and was the same as SOHO-2432 above. I will remove it from
the list and reassign the number to something else.

Does anyone else see anything wrong with what I have? I feel I have covered the
December reports several times now, so really don't want to spend more time
doing it unless there's a genuine error.

I will post a summary of these corrections on the Sungrazer site very shortly.

I have not assigned a new comet to SOHO-2440 yet, but I will as soon
as an appropriate candidate appears. (It takes too long to decrease
the later comets by just one number.)

Please email me if something seems wrong here. I have covered these
reports several times now though, and I do not see any more problems.

看了吧，专家没有把编号重新再排序，只是将2440空了出来，让我说，我觉得彗星没多没少这就可以了，编号乱了倒也无所谓。

那么，这回，现在，看来，专家，可就，又……打破，常规，了啊！

算了，这几天也难为KB专家了……
目前，他已经把能给我的彗星都给我了，
只是，没有按我说的编号给我而已。

The *new* SOHO-2440 is a fragment that Szymon reported in January. I was
unable to confirm it based on the C3 data, and still am. However, it is
clearly visible in the SECCHI HI-1B images, and so now I CAN confirm it!
(It also nicely takes care of that vacant #2440 slot!)

I was my intent to check SECCHI/HI-1 reports concurrently with the SOHO
reports but we are having some server problems right now so they're going
to have to wait for a bit.

Hopefully all of the above looks reasonable to everyone and I didn't miss
any reports...
