奋地向导师宣布他要将暗物质作为自己的博士论文课题。令他沮丧的是，瑞瑟教授却打击

他的热情，要求他做有助于教授研究方向的课题，具体地说，就是要他研究瑞瑟模式。刘

星违背导师的意愿发表了一篇关于暗物质的精彩论文，但这给他带来的不是成功，而是无

法逾越的障碍。很快，他对于光明前途的梦想被击垮，最终破灭。一无所有的刘星用悲剧

性、毁灭性的后果向他以前的导师和同事采取了报复行动。



　　SYNOPSIS: Inspired by a true story, DARK MATTER tells the story of Liu Xin

g (Liu Ye), one of thousands of Chinese academics awarded special visa status

in the 1990’s to study in the United States. A promising graduate student in

physics, Liu Xing’s goal is to win the Nobel Prize.
　　
　　At university, Liu Xing devotes himself to research on the origins of the

universe for the eminent and charming Professor Jacob Reiser (Quinn). He rises

quickly to the top, establishing himself as the star pupil through his brilli

ant aptitude and hard work.
　　
　　Liu Xing boasts to his family in China of his rapid academic progress, sen

ding money home and promising them a life in America very soon. But his pride

is tempered by his struggle to understand the social and political dynamics of


American university life. Joanna Silver (Streep), a wealthy socialite and pat

ron of the university, reaches out to befriend Liu Xing. A woman of great pass

ions and a fascination for China, Joanna devotes her time to helping the Chine

se students as they assimilate into American culture.
　　
　　Shortly into his studies, Liu Xing fixates on the Dark Matter theory, one

of the great unchartered areas of physics. Excitedly, he announces to Professo

r Reiser that he wants to pursue Dark Matter for his thesis. To Liu Xing’s di

smay, Reiser discourages him; instead, he demands Liu Xing pursue topics that

support his own research, specifically the Reiser Model. Against Reiser’s wis

hes, Liu Xing publishes a brilliant article on Dark Matter, but instead of fin

ding success, he is hit with insurmountable obstacles. Soon, his dreams of a b


rilliant career are dashed and ultimately, destroyed. With nothing, Liu Xing l

ashes out at his former mentor and colleagues with tragic and devastating cons

equences.

国内有一出电视剧，好像是叫做《派克左轮》（男主角是由印小天饰演）也是以这个事件作蓝本的。
